Rathmullan Celtic 1 Kildrum Tigers 2
Kildrum brought much of the attack to the Seasiders in the opening half and took a fortuitous lead on 40 minutes when Declan Curtis was adjudged to have been upended by Hoops shot stopper Sean Black. Referee Paddy Melaugh awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Brian Lynch into the left top corner. They were two ahead on 48 minutes when Gareth Colhoun’s cross was turned into his own net by Hoops’ midfielder Marty Mc Daid. Kevin Mc Grath pulled one back for Rathmullan on 78 minutes when he scored an over-head kick after been set up by Terry Mc Auley. The Hoops almost snatched a late draw with McDaid seeing his strike deflected perilously wide of the Tigers goal on 86 minutes. Brian Coll was outstanding alongside Gary Crossan for the Tigers with Terry Mc Auley and Eoin Sheridan hitting the high notes on a dismal cold day at the Seaside for the Hoops. Referee: Paddy Melaugh
St. Catherines 4 Cranford United 2
St. Catherine’s played host to Cranford in Emerald Park on Sunday afternoon. On thirty six minutes the Saints were given a free kick which was taken by Aidan Mc Ginley. The ball
spilled to Shane Molloy who stabbed home from six yards. The second half started with Cranford looking to get back on level terms and they did create chances. On 58 minutes they were awarded a penalty which they scored. Cranford barely had time to celebrate their goal as within three minutes the Saints had regained the lead through Daniel Breslin who hit a curling shot that went straight into the bottom corner. With 80 minutes on the clock Cranford levelled again to set up an interesting finish. Deep into stoppage time the Saints were awarded a penalty when Daniel Breslin was fouled in the box. Up stepped Jason Noctor and he calmly slotted the ball into the Cranford net. Barry Rose completed the scoring when Cranford were caught on the counterattack as they looked for an equaliser. Best for Saints was Jason Noctor. Best for Cranford was Kyle Black.
Gweedore Celtic 2 Cappry Rovers 2
At a windswept Screaban Cappry Rovers will be happy enough with a share of the points. The visitors played with the aid of the wind in the first half but despite having the bulk of possession they created four chances. The home side should have gone ahead on ten minutes but Tommy Diver couldn’t convert Colin Ferry’s cross. Cappry took the lead on twenty minutes when a corner into the goalmouth broke to Michael Lynch and he lashed it into the net. Gweedore were back on level terms five minutes later when Odhran Mc Niallais was fouled in the penalty area and Jamie Boyle took the penalty and although the keeper stopped the kick the ball rolled over the goal line. Ten minutes into the second half the home side went ahead with Colin Ferry finishing an in-swinging corner from Jamie Boyle. Gweedore pushed forward but despite hitting the post and the crossbar they couldn’t increase the lead. They were made to regret those mistakes when Paddy Mc Nulty headed in from close range on seventy five minutes. Best for Gweedore were Peter Mc Gee and Jamie Boyle. A decent team effort from Cappry. Referee: Ed Moore
Drumoghill F.C. 4 Donegal Town 1
Paddy ‘Pajo’ Rafferty hammered home a first half hat-trick to set Drumoghill on route to another victory as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season. Rafferty’s hat-trick was the perfect response after Donegal Town had taken an early lead through Declan Brogan and ensured his team went into the half-time interval with a 3-1 lead. Richie Moore added a fourth early in the second half to effectively end the contest as Drumoghill ran out comfortable and deserving winners. Rafferty will deservedly grab the headlines but it was the performance of debutant David Shovlin in midfield that was the real difference between the teams. Referee: Kevin Logue.
Lifford Celtic 3 Glenea United 1
Lifford hit the front on 20 minutes as Ross Porter beat Joe Coll in the Glenea net following a neat move involving Stuart Carlin and Kian Patton. Minutes later David Gethins broke on Lifford’s right flank and squared to Porter who calmly finished to the bottom corner from 20 yards to double Lifford’s advantage. Glenea reduced Lifford’s advantage to a single goal on the hour mark as Darren Mc Keever broke the offside trap to finish to the net. From the resulting kick off Lifford attacked and Porter completed his hat-trick, getting on the end of a Kevin Mc Brearty delivery. Glenea almost set-up a grandstand finale only for a wonder save from Paul Given following a corner on 80 minutes. Two decent team performances with Porter’s goals the difference.

Curragh Athletic 1 Lagan Harps 6
An understrength Curragh Athletic suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of high flying Lagan Harps who moved second in the League. Chris Toner converted a Stephen O’ Donnell cross to put Lagan Harps one up and Kenny Doran added a second to leave it 2-0 at the break. Gerard Hilley added a third after the break. Lagan registered further goals from Toner again and a double from Austy Marron. Justin Mc Bride was the Curragh’s scorer. Referee: Con Mc Laughlin.
Dunkineely Celtic 1 Whitestrand United 0
Dunkineely gained their first points of the season with this narrow victory over Whitestrand. Played in terrible conditions with gale force winds and hail both teams struggled to make any chances in the opening half. The deadlock was broken on fifty minutes when young James Byrne scored his first senior goal from close range following a corner. Dunkineely dominated the second period creating numerous chances but failing to take them. Whitestrand offered very little in attack and the home side held on for a very welcome three points.
Copany Rovers 0 Gweedore United 2
Copany played Gweedore in terrible playing conditions. The game was a scrappy affair in which Gweedore took the lead through a deflected own goal . The second was no better as the hail pelted down and Gweedore added to their lead with a fine curling effort from John Mc Fadden. Copany pressed well at the end but had no luck and it ended 0-2. Doohan was best for Gweedore side and it was a team performance from Copany.
CT Ball Division Two

Jason Toner had a good strike on goal for the visitors from twenty yards just go wide of the post on seventy five minutes. Darren Harvey scored for the visitors on eighty minutes from a free kick from twenty five yards. Referee: Michael Connolly
Deele Harps 4 Glenree United 0
Deele entertained Glenree at The Athletic Grounds on a wintry afternoon. There was a sombre start to proceedings with an impeccably observed minutes silence in memory of the late Seamus Hegarty, Deele Harps’ former player and assistant treasurer and his good friend Kevin Woods. Deele dominated from early on with Aidy Gallagher’s deflected shot giving the home side the lead in the 20th minute. Striker Shane Gallagher doubled Deele’s lead on 35 minutes with a fine finish from just inside the box. The second half was a battle but Deele defended well and the impressive Barry Curran scored a cracker, pulling the ball out of the sky with one touch and hammering home with his second touch. Deele completed the job when Aidy Gallagher scored a fine individual goal after a mazy run from half-way he fired low into the bottom corner the wrap up the win. There was still time for Willie Curran to make a stunning penalty save in the last minute to preserve the clean sheet.
Eany Celtic 0 Ballybofey United 5
This game played in wintry conditions started with the home side going close in the first five minutes through Pauric McHugh. The visitors then had a good chance on the half hour but were denied by a fine reaction save by Gavin Mulreany in the Eany goal. The deadlock was broken when, following a Ballybofey corner, Damien Glackin was fouled in the box. Mark Griffin scored the spot kick. The home side started the second half similar to the first and Brain McCabe went close to the equaliser with a header. With the home side pushing to get back on level terms they were caught on the counter attack by Damien Glackin. This was followed up by Calvin McGowan and two more from Damien Glackin.

Mulroy Celtic 5 Milford United Reserves 3
Milford visited Tri a Locha for the second time in a fortnight. The home side took the lead through Michael Sweeney. The goal came courtesy of a mix up in the Milford defence. The away side struck back through an own goal after good work by Ciaran Blaney on the left hand side. The goal seemed to galvanise Mulroy and they created several chances, with Sweeney, Mc Elwaine and Mc Bride going close. They regained the lead through Shaun McGovern who was quickest to react to a Sweeney shot that rebounded off the post. They increased their lead with Michael adding a second to his personal account. The fourth soon followed with the Sweeney brothers combining well ending with Eamon sweeping the ball into the bottom corner from eighteen yards. Number five came from Captain Tony McBride who’s daisy cutter nestled in the bottom corner. Credit to Milford they didn’t let the heads drop and pulled a goal back through Whelan who met a cross and flicked the ball through the keepers legs from twelve yards, neat finish. They put a better complexion on the score line with a fine finish late on. Paddy Heraghty was flawless on debut at centre half with Jerry Friel producing a tireless performance. Battling Milford team display.
Glencar Celtic 2 Glenree United Reserves 0
Glencar got off to a winning start in their first Downtown Cup game of this campaign. They controlled the game from start to finish but found it difficult to penetrate the Glenree defence who were well organised. Seany Houston produced that bit of class needed midway through the first half to put Glencar one up when he controlled a ball on the edge of the box and produced top drawer finish into the top corner. This should have sparked Glencar into gear but they just couldn’t hit top form on a cold wet day in Rathmullan. Joe Baker eventually got Glencar’s second of the game.
Group B
Arranmore United 0 Keadue Rovers Reserves 2
A young understrength Arranmore put up a gallant display against near neighbours Keadue. The home side’s first half offering was one rasping drive from Conor Proctor which Ben Boyle did well to save. Arranmore started the better in the 2nd half and were denied on 55 minutes by a great last ditch tackle from O’ Brien. Turski then had a great effort well saved by Boyle. Arranmore had keeper Greene to thank as Keadue finished the stronger. The breakthrough came on 83 minutes when a shot from O’ Brien found the net. Arranmore looked for the equaliser but were caught on the break when Adam Neely made the game safe in the 90 minute. Best for Keadue were Aidan Gillespie and Arron Boyle. Best for Arranmore was Conor Proctor. Referee: Seamus Mc Grory
Strand Rovers 0 Glenea United Reserves 0
Both sides had spells of supremacy in this Cup match played in Maghery. Kevin Mc Govern’s second half save was the main talking point when he denied Glenea a certain goal. A share of the spoils was the fairest result on the day when the weather didn’t make for attractive football.
Group C
Tullyvinney Rovers 3 Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 3
Drumoghill had to come from behind to rescue a point in their opening Downtown Cup match against Tullyvinney in the Cross. A highly entertaining encounter was played between the sides with chances for both sides to take all three points but a point apiece a fair result..
Tullyvinney started brightest with Joel Cromie scoring after only 5 minutes. The second goal came from a spilled shot and Matthew Grant was on hand to score. Drumoghill replied somewhat against the run of play when Ethan Mc Cready reduced the deficit. Tullyvinney had the better of the chances in the first half and went 3-1 ahead through Captain Stephen Devine.
John Rodgers then beat the offside trap to leave the minimum between the sides at the break. In the second half Drumoghill had the better of the chances. Richard Tinney headed the equaliser to assure his team a share of the points. Best for Tullyvinney were Paul McDaid and Joel Cromie. Good team performance from Drumoghill. Referee: George Clinton

Curragh had a chance to equalize but the keeper saved well. David Stewart then scored in the 78th minute. Castlefin dominated for the rest of the game and scored again in the 83rd.
