A man has appeared in court charged with rape.
The man, who cannot be named, appeared at Letterkenny District Court this morning.
The man was arrested overnight and taken to Letterkenny Garda station.
When charged with the rape allegation by Gardai, he replied “It never happened.”
Judge Paul Kelly adjourned the case until February 2nd for the service of a book of evidence in the case.
A number of bail conditions were also set down.
They include that the accused signs on at Letterkenny Garda Station three times each week, not to have any contact with witnesses, be contactable by mobile phone, surrender his passport and stay out of designated areas.
Judge Kelly set bail and asked for the man’s own bond of €5,000 and also sought an independent surety of €1,000.
