Derry City manager Peter Hutton has snapped up former UCD and Cork City striker Cillian Morrison and former Finn Harps goalkeeper Shaun Patton on one-year contracts.
Morrison only joined Cork City in June 2014, but he was a peripheral figure in the squad and first-team opportunities were limited.
Cork City manager John Caulfield was a huge admirer of Morrison, and felt he had a big role to play for his side in the forthcoming 2015 campaign.
However, manager Peter Hutton has moved swiftly to snap up the talented striker on a one-year deal, who has jumped at the opportunity to sign for the Candystripes.
Finn Harps goalkeeper Shaun Patton has also signed on at The Brandywell in a shock move.
Patton played several times for Ollie Horgan’s side last season and was very impressive.
However, he lost his place in the team when he took time out to focus on his Leaving Cert examinations and never regained his place.
The news will come as a big surprise to Finn Harps fans, who expected to see Patton push Ciaran Gallagher for the No.1 position in the team.
Possibly the decision to re-sign Gallagher has prompted Patton to seek an exit from the club.
Both players starred in a different sport last weekend, the duo lined out for St Eunan’s in their Ulster SFC semi-final defeat by Omagh.
