A shop assistant has been held at gunpoint in a raid on a filling station in Co Donegal last night.

The hold-up took place at the Topaz Garage and Today’s Extra Shop in Castlefin just after 8.45pm.

It is understood that an armed man burst into the shop and demanded cash from the terrified worker at the petrol station.

It is not known if any money was handed over or how the raider made his escape.

However no-one was hurt during the raid.

Gardai were on the scene shortly afterwards and have cordoned off the area.

At least three Garda cars and a section of the Armed Response Unit responded to the raid.

Gardai are declining to make any official comment on the robbery at this stage.
