At a time when other golf clubs would be “winding down” at the end of their golfing season, Letterkenny Golf & Social Club is as busy as ever, especially on this Halloween Weekend, when two main events will take place on Saturday 1st November.
On the fundraising side, the club are pleased to announce the launch of their weekly LOTTO, which will guarantee the winner a minimum of €1,000 jackpot.
There will also be a weekly “lucky dip” draw for two winners, [on lotto night] which will pay the two lucky lotto members €50 each.
Letterkenny Golf Club Captain, Tom Mc Donagh, on behalf of the fundraising committee told Donegal Daily, “We have just launched a new Online Lotto in order to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance and further development of our course.
“As you know we have made a significant investment in our facilities over the past few years and we now have a much improved course which ranks as one of the best parkland courses in the country.
“However there is a need for ongoing expenditure on the course not just to maintain it at its present standard but to carry out further improvements on a gradual basis, as our finances allow.
“We have historically depended on fund raising activities such as the 300 Club and special events like the “White Collar Boxing” in 2013 to supplement our income from Subscriptions, Competition Fees and Sponsorship.
“Such fund raising activities have been very helpful to the club but they do have a relatively short life span before they become ineffective.
“Going forward we see this new Lotto as our primary source of fundraising if we get the usual strong support from our members, their friends and ,indeed, the general public at large who have always supported the golf club.
“The lotto, which is priced at a modest €2 per line per draw, is within reach and achievable for most people.
“This new Lotto has been launched via the internet. This allows players to participate no matter where in the world they may be at any time.
“It also allows our Lotto players to have full control from their own home or from their smartphone.
“We would ask everyone to play our Lotto for the future security of the club.
The official LOTTO LAUNCH will take place on this Saturday night 1st, with music from Gerry in the clubhouse social bar.
The first weekly draw will take place on Wednesday 5th November 2014.
The opening jackpot is €1000 with two lucky dip prizes of €50 each.
Players may “buy” as many weeks as they wish, with free weeks allowed for multiple buys.
On the hospitality side, Letterkenny Golf Club are pleased and honoured to host the AUDI IRELAND OPEN WEEKEND DONEGAL 2014.

On the course, the club are holding a 3 day bonanza of golf, generously sponsored by Audi Ireland.
Friday 31st October, Halloween Day, will tee-off with an Open singles stableford, followed by an Open singles stableford on Saturday 1st and again on Sunday 2nd, an Open singles stableford.
On this Thursday night, 30th Oct., Brown’s on the Green have introduced their Thursday night winter special, served in the bar from 5pm-9pm, which includes a 7oz Rib Eye Steak, served with smoked potato chips ,tomato chutney, rocket salad and a side order of choice for only €24.95 for two persons.
