Leon Kelly scored a goal as Glenswilly eased past the challenge of neighbours Termon earlier this afternoon.
Current Donegal SFC holders Glenswilly proved to be a bridge too far for local rivals Termon, in a very one-sided quarter-final at O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny.
In the lead-up to the game, the clash between the two teams was being billed as a potentially explosive one, given Termon’s excellent win over Gaoth Dobhair last week and the bitter rivalry that exists between the two clubs.
But in truth, it was an utterly disappointing match, that Glenswilly won with ease.
Two first half goals from Darren McGinley dealt Termon a hammer blow from which they were unable to recover from.
Glenswilly also scored some great points in the first-half, with Joe Gibbons, Ciaran Bonner, Michael Murphy and Gary McFadden all registering points for Gary McDaid’s side.
Termon’s only points in the opening period came from Christy Connaghan who scored two frees.
The second-half was riddled with mistakes from both sides, as Glenswilly allowed complacency into their play.
Termon never capitalized though and were guilty of kicking a succession of poor wide’s.
Caolan McDaid registered their first score from play after 45 minutes, but Glenswilly extended their advantage with a brace of points from Gary McFadden.
Glenswilly had Ruairi Crawford red carded and two minutes later Termon’s Anthony McGrenra was also dismissed.
Leon Kelly completed Termon’s misery with a goal late-on to run out convincing winners in the end.
