Rory Kavanagh was immense for St Eunan’s in their Donegal SFC victory over Four Masters at Mac Cumhaill Park.
St Eunan’s have sent out a real message of intent following their excellent Donegal SFC quarter-final victory over Four Masters at Mac Cumhaills Park this evening.
St Eunan’s were utterly ruthless throughout, and disposed of the challenge of Four Masters with ease.
Maxi Curran’s side have shown they’re genuine contenders to win the Donegal SFC outright and they’ll take some stopping on the evidence of this showing.
Four Masters are an excellent side, and they have a hugely talented and experienced squad.
However, they’ll be desperately disappointed with their performance, and the fact they just didn’t give a good account of themselves.
In truth, they never turned up and St Eunan’s exploited that and delivered an assured, clinical and impressive performance to book their place in the semi-finals.
St Eunan’s got off to a great start and raced into an early lead thanks to points from Conall Dunne, Conor Gibbons and well-taken goal from Rory Carr.
Gibbons then added a trio of scores, before Rory Kavanagh got in on the act to make it 1-06 to 0-00 as the clock ticked towards half-time.
Four Masters finally scored their first point in the 29th minute from a free by Michael Doherty, he added another in first-half stoppage time before Connie Doherty blew for the half-time whistle.
Remarkably with blanket defences all the rage in this year’s Donegal SFC, all of St Eunan’s scores in the first-half were from play.

There was then some unsavoury scenes, as a melee broke out at the end of the half which lasted for a couple of minutes.
There was disgraceful scenes as players traded punches and kicks during the mass brawl.
It was finally resolved and two players were issued with yellow cards.
St Eunan’s maintained their dominance in the second-half with Rory Kavanagh, Gibbons and Donnacha Gallagher all adding scores.
Four Masters responded through Michael Doherty from a couple of placed balls, but they never really threatened St Eunan’s.
They were heavy reliant on Michael Doherty who scored six of their seven points, (five from frees) Sean O’Kennedy got their other score from play.
St Eunan’s capitalized on a Paul Durcan error in injury-time and that score only added to the woe for Four Masters.
On the basis of this evidence 2012 champions St Eunan’s will be hard to be stopped again this year.
