Leading Gardai from the Bureau of Fraud Investigation are to address a seminar on business-related crime in Co Donegal tonight.
Local Gardaí in association with Letterkenny Chamber are hosting the event.
The seminar takes place at the COLAB at LYIT at 6.30pm and will be addressed by Detective Sgt Matt Sheridan who is based at the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, Harcourt Square, Dublin.
D/Sgt Sheridan will address the current crime trends relating to Business Crime / Credit Card Fraud / & On line trading and payment.
The seminar will also be addressed by Sgt John Crosse, National Crime Prevention Office Harcourt Sq, Dublin. Sgt Crosse will address the attendance on Business Crime Nationally, what is being stolen, the profile of offenders times and days crime is most prevalent.
Letterkenny Chamber and An Garda Síochana locally operate Business Watch in Letterkenny which is a forum where the business community meet with local Gardaí on a regular basis.
Business Watch in Letterkenny are credited with developing a text alert scheme for local businesses to share information. This initiative has been rolled out nationally by Chambers Ireland in an effort to create a crime awareness, share information and have a proactive crime preventative focus.
The seminar will be jointly chaired by Ms. Toni Forrester CEO Letterkenny Chamber & Inspector David Kelly Letterkenny Gardai.
