Tributes and messages of sympathy have been flowing in for a young Ballybofey woman who died in this morning’s road crash.
Kym Harley, 19, died after the car in which she was a passenger hit a ditch at Dreenan just before 4.30am.
Kym is the daughter of well-known and highly-respected county councillor Martin Harley.
The former St Columba’s College student only celebrated her 19th birthday last week and worked in her father’s bar Cheers in Ballybofey.
The entire community is in shock at the tragic death.
Local county councillor Gary Doherty said people are just numb after the tragedy.
“I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the Harley family and in particular my Council colleague Martin on the sad and tragic death of their beloved daughter. My thoughts and sympathies are with the family at this most difficult time for them. ”
Gardai have appealed for anybody who was in the area of the crash, which is close to the Ballybofey Tennis Club, to come forward.
“I would like to appeal for anybody in the area who seen the accident to come forward.
“The male driver in the car hasn’t suffered injuries buy roadblocks are in place at the moment.
“A full Garda forensic team has been deployed to the scene of the accident in an effort to determine the cause of the incident,” he said.
* The road at the scene of this morning’s crash has now reopened after a Garda forensic examination.
