Over TWO HUNDRED places on Job seeking support programmes have been awarded to Donegal as part of the second round of EU funded Momentum initiative, a job seeking support programme managed by SOLAS.
The places are FREE to persons who have been on Job Seekers Allowance/Benefit and actively seeking work for 12 months or more.
All programmes run under Momentum involve job seeking support, certified vocational training and a period of work placement providing an excellent opportunity for persons to secure employment.
The Vocational training being provided on Momentum 2 includes Transport Management, Childcare, Professional Food & Beverages Services, Surf Instructing with Lifeguarding as well as the very popular Bus and Truck Driving Programmes.

This is the second round of Momentum Programmes to be rolled out in the North West.
Letterkenny based training company, the Swilly Group will be responsible for the delivery of a number Momentum programmes in Donegal.
Director of Training Services, Karl Sweeney, told Donegal Daily, “In the previous round of Momentum, we helped secure employment for a large number of persons who were unemployed for a long time.
“We have established relationships with a wide network of employers throughout Donegal who are actively seeking new employees.
“This provides us with an advantage in helping people get a job opportunity.
Karl told Donegal Daily, “Our Momentum programmes a more than just a training course. We support the participants in overcoming their barriers to employment and help the participant gain the skills and qualifications that local employers want.
“A key aspect of Momentum is we create that all important link between the participant and the employer and support the participants make a smooth transition into employment”.
Carl Vesey who completed the Swilly Group Bus Driving Course last year explained the significance of the impact of the course on his life .
He told Donegal Daily, “Before undertaking the Swilly Drive bus course, I couldn’t pay my mortgage – now I’m up and running again.
