THEY’RE HERE! WATER METER CONTRACTORS MOVE INTO DONEGAL ESTATE

unnamedBREAKING NEWS: THE first water meter contractors have arrived in Co Donegal this evening.

They moved into Ballybofey this afternoon and continued to work after dusk. They were still working a short time ago.

The crews – from GMC Sierra – have so far worked unhindered in the Silverwood area.

However some local people are planning protests tomorrow.

It comes after one county councillor publicly called for meters to be vandalised.

There have been stand-offs with the contractors in various parts of the country.

10641053_742681849134859_8798870501909746511_nLast month a depot storing meters in Sligo was torched in an arson attack and several plans to instal meters in that town have been stopped.

“It is very annoying,” said one local resident.

“We’ve had all the talk about meters now for a year but tonight in Donegal they are a reality.

“It’s heartbreaking the Government is now doing this to us.”
