The funeral takes place today of a 22 month old toddler killed by a van at his home in Letterkenny.
Little Joshua Coyle will be buried in Conwal Graveyard after funeral mass at St.Eunan’s Cathedral at midday.
The little boy, the youngest of four children, died after he was struck by a van driven by a family friend on Friday evening last.
The dead boy’s grandfather has said his family hold no ill will towards the man and have welcomed him to come to the boy’s funeral.
“It was a complete accident and we hold no ill will against this man. He is suffering his own pain too.
“He is part of the grieving process and we hope very much that he will attend little Joshua’s funeral,” said Alan.
Little Joshua’s remains are being waked at his home at Crieve Glebe where hundreds of people have been calling to sympathise with his parents Alex and Suzanna.
Local priest Fr Eamon Kelly said he was happy that local people were able to come and see Joshua at the wake before the funeral ceremony.
“We are lucky in Donegal that we still have wakes because they are declining throughout the country.
“I think wakes are a positive thing because it allows people to grieve instead of large number of people visiting a family in a short space of time during a viewing.
“We have no words of comfort or wisdom for Alex and Suzanna and their family. All we can do is to be there for them at this time,” he said.
