Stranorlar area Councillor Liam Doherty is certainly leading by example!
The Sinn Fein politician gets his sleeves rolled up recently in Convoy during community improvement works that was achieved through money attained form the Council’s Community Involvement Scheme.
Cllr Liam Doherty said everyone can play their part in helping to improve their community.
“Since the abolition of the LIS schemes and the reduction of road maintaince monies, local communities have had to get more involved and indeed have been encouraged to do so.
“Recently in Convoy the Environmental Committee applied for monies through the community involvement scheme for improvement works at St Bridgets National School. Whilst the scheme is small it can still go along way in terms of improving your local environment.
“I would encourage local community groups to plan ahead and consider making applications for when the scheme comes around again and I will certainly be advocating that money be made available through our local authority budget for next year.”
