MAC CUMHAILLS EARN THE BRAGGING RIGHTS WITH DERBY WIN OVER GLENFIN

Sean MacCumhaillsMac Cumhaills earned an excellent five-point victory over bitter local rivals Glenfin earlier this evening in their opening fixture of the Donegal SFC.

As predicted the game was going to be close, tough and tense, and it was extremely physical throughout with both sides battling to take control of the match.

Ultimately in the end up, Mac Cumhaills had that little bit more quality up front that gave them the edge over a Glenfin side full of endeavour and heart.

Games between these two sides are always important but a clash in the SFC brings added significance and pressure.

It was a very close opening half with both sides trading scores, but two wonderful points from Gerard Ward edged the hosts in front at half-time.

Half-time score Glenfin 0-06 Mac Cumhaills 0-05

Ten minutes into the second-half and the scores were tied at 0-08 apiece, but Glenfin failed to score in the final twenty minutes and that ultimately was the reason they lost the game.

A super score from Stephen Mulligan edged the Ballybofey men in front, and after that score they registered four unanswered points.

They won the game by five points and were deserving winners in the end.

Final score Glenfin 0-08 Mac Cumhaills 0-13.
