Donegal Sinn Fein County Council Whip, Cllr Mick Quinn, has called on the people of Donegal to support the annual Templedouglas commemoration tomorrow (Sunday).
Cllr Quinn said that it was vitally important that we remember our patriot dead and renew our efforts to achieve Irish unity.
The commemoration will be addressed by Mary Lou McDonald and starts at 3pm
Commenting on the event, Cllr Quinn said he was encouraging all republicans in Donegal to come along to the annual commemoration.
“It is crucial that we as republicans remember those who have given their lives for Ireland over the last century and recommit ourselves to the struggle for which they died.
“The huge vote that the Scottish independence movement received last week shows the appetite that there is on these islands to end the union and for countries to have complete control over our own affairs. It is now time for a border poll in Ireland so we can have a meaningful debate on the benefits of reunification.
‘Our commemoration has grown bigger year on year and I am confident that this year will be our biggest yet. As such I would extend an invitation to everyone in Donegal to attend.’
