Neil McGee will be back in club action this weekend when his Gaoth Dobhair side travel to Killybegs in the Donegal SFC.
Last year’s beaten finalists Killybegs face Gaoth Dobhair this weekend in the Donegal SFC.
Killybegs were the surprise package of last year’s championship, they didn’t pick up a single point in their league campaign last season, but proved everybody wrong to reach the final of the Donegal SFC.
They were eventually comfortably beaten by Glenswilly in the decider, but it was a fantastic achievement by Killybegs to reach the final.
They’ve been decimated by mass emigration and this year they’ve struggled badly in Division Two.
Gaoth Dobhair on the other hand have looked extremely impressive under the stewardship of player-manager Kevin Cassidy.
Cassidy also has former Derry star Paddy Bradley as part of his management set-up and his presence has given them fresh impetus.
Gaoth Dobhair have been excellent all season in the league and they’re being tipped by many to go all the way in this year’s championship.
With Donegal stars Odhran MacNiallais, Eamon McGee and Neil McGee back in their ranks they look a formidable outfit.
Gaoth Dobhair also had six players on the Donegal minor side and a number of them will play key roles in the forthcoming championship.
While Killybegs always save their best for championship, they face a stiff test on Saturday evening.
Killybegs have home advantage but Gaoth Dobhair have quality and real strength and depth in their squad.
VERDICT – GAOTH DOBHAIR
