So how did an old run down Chip Factory turn into one of the top Entertainment Complexes in the Northwest?
Quite simply, one man’s vision.
Arena 7 opened its doors on August 2004 offering 10 bowling lanes, arcade machines, a kids adventure centre, a fast food outlet, a bar and five snooker tables.
Twenty-nine staff started off on that journey with Arena 7 and now ten years later there are over sixty employed.
Enda Nicholls first came up with the idea after a conversation he had with Seamus Mc Ateer of County Seat where he once worked.
The need for a place for families to be entertained in Letterkenny was realised.
The venue at Ballyraine was chosen and so the wheels were set in motion to what has become a fantastic addition to Letterkenny.
Since that first day in 2004 the complex has grown steady with The Brunswick Room added in 2005 complete with Private Bar and a capacity for 140 people.
Kelly’s Corner was the next to be added in 2007 to cater for the growing demand of private functions with a capacity of 60.
The snooker tables were replaced in 2007 with the arrival of the very popular Kids Go Karts and The snug bar arrived in 2011 and it has since doubled up as a Private Karaoke Bar when Arena 7 teamed up with London based Karaoke Specialists “Lucky Voice”.
The best way to start off a night on the town too I might add!!!!!!
The VIP Private Bowling Room was a welcome addition in 2012 offering three lanes of bowling complete with stylish seating, private music system, a pool table, air hockey table as well as waiter service for those enjoying a drink from the bar.
Laser Quest was the next to follow in 2013 with the new multi level maze a great addition to the growing number of reasons to visit Arena 7.
The game, using state of the art equipment is played by both adults and kids and is used by quite a lot of teams and businesses as a team building exercise with Declan Bonners successful Donegal Minor team recent visitors.
Never one to stand still in 2014 Mr Nicholls renovated the restaurant and renamed it The Wood Berry Grill Bar & Restaurant so his customers can enjoy great food in stylish and comfortable surroundings.
Shay Given, Ken Doherty, Jimmy White, Paul Mc Ginley, Aidan Mc Geady, Brendan O Carroll, Danny and Amanda O Carroll as well as Keith Duffy and the Irish Boxing legend Jack Mc Laughlin have all been visitors to the complex in the past 10 years.
However it is the support of the local people that has made the business the success that it is.
Enda and Claire would like to thank each and every customer who have chosen Arena 7 over the past 10 years and look forward to the future with great anticipation.
Arena 7 will celebrate the past 10 years on the 5th of September with food and music by Cod Stewart (a Rod Stewart Tribute Act) and that man DJ Scoop.
