This week was the Caravanner’s week. On Thursday we had the conclusion to the Youth Academy ran at the club since the start of the summer.
There were over forty children competing in the final competition. Michael Dolan was successful in the boy’s section and Emmy Bonnar was successful in the girl’s section.
The club would like to thank Gerry Flynn of Flynn’s Pharmacy, Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh who sponsored the Youth Academy this year.
This academy would not be the success that it is, without our professional Seamus Mc Monagle.
He has a great understanding of working with children and every child has benefitted from taking part in the youth academy.
The fruits of his hard work with the children is already proving successful with the first of the participants of the academy getting their handicaps this week. Well done to everyone that took part and to the parents who helped on the night.
Then on Friday night we had the final of the club mixed foursomes. Graham and Natalie Cummings were successful against Bill and Paula Mc Callion.
In the plate final Dave Moore and Rose Gavigan were the victors over Lady Captain, Cheryl and John Chambers. Our Club Captain Gerald and Deborah Moore won the daily competition.
Well done to all who took part and thanks to John and Cheryl for organising a wonderful competition.
Then afterwards we had the Caravanner’s quiz with Brian Gilferder as quiz master. There was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse.
On Saturday the Caravanner’s held their Classic in aid of the club and other charities. There was nearly 50 teams taking part and a great day was had by everyone.
Gerry Mc Greevy and Mal Johnson put in a huge amount of work organising this year’s event and there was nothing left to chance. The weather was fantastic and the course was in great condition. On Saturday night we had the presentation of the prizes with music afterwards by Bill and Friends. It was a great day and night and thanks to the Caravanners especially Gerry and Mal for organising a great weekend again this year. Jim and John you have a tough challenge following this year, but I have no doubt that both of you are up to the challenge.
On Sunday morning our Lady Captain, Cheryl, Captain Gerald, the staff of the bar and the Caravanner’s organisers Mal and Gerry did the Ice Bucket Challenge and raised funds for Donegal Hospice. There was a large crowd in attendance to cheer them on.
