COUNTY MATTERS
All eyes will be on Croke Park on Sunday when Donegal take on Dublin for a place in the All Ireland Final.
The Malin club and the Inishowen peninsula will be well represented in both the Minor and Senior games.
Best wishes to Declan Walsh, Stephen Mc Laughlin (Fildara) and the senior squad, and also to Robert Farren who is a member of the backroom team with the minor panel. Anyone who has secured a ticket for Sunday is asked to get there early and cheer on the minor side. For anyone who cannot make the games, both will be shown live on tv. The minor game will be shown on TG4 at 1.30 while the senior game gets underway at 3.30 and will be broadcast on RTE2. We would also ask everyone to take on the roads and hopefully we will be returning to the capital in September for a date with Sam.
UNDER 10 BLITZ
The Under 10 Blitz held in Connolly Park on Saturday was an outstanding success, with 9 clubs represented and 18 teams taking part in total. The A final was an all Derry affair, with Dungiven coming out on top against Glenullin. Mc Cumhaills defeated Glenswilly in the A shield final. Dungiven also were victorious in the B competition defeating the hosts Malin, while Termon took the silverware in the B shield, edging Glenswilly in the final. A massive thank you to the coaches, mentors and players from Carndonagh, N. Padraig (Muff), N Colmcille (Newton), Termon, Glenswilly, Mc Cumhaills (Ballybofey), Dungiven and Glenullin who travelled to Malin. The quality of football on show was outstanding and the whole competition was played in a great sporting manner. Also, a big thank you to all of our members who helped with the smooth running of the competiton.
UNDER 13.5 BOYS
Well done to our boys who defeated Letterkenny Gaels on a 6.7 to 4.7 scoreline last week.
CHARITY DANCE
The Malin Hotel was packed to the rafters on Saturday night for the charity dance organised by the club in memory of the late Bernie Collins. The money raised will be split between the oncology unit in Letterkenny & St. Luke’s hospital Dublin as the family want to acknowledge these invaluable services. An event such as this, goes to show the support and generosity of the GAA family and the Malin/Culdaff parish as a whole. We would like to thank The Malin Hotel, all who bought and sold tickets, the local businesses who sponsored the great prizes on the night and finally to Seamus, Maureen, Finbarr and Cathal and their family and friends for all their work in organising the night. No doubt Bernie would be very proud of their efforts.
CLUB SHOP
The Malin GAA club shop will be open in the clubhouse on Saturdays from 12-2 and on Sundays from 11-15 to 2-00. There are a large selection of club merchandise in stock, which can be purchased on the day.
