A gang targeted a man while he was at a graveyard mass and stole a large amount of gold jewellery from his home.Burglars

The disgusting incident happened on Sunday morning last when the man left to attend the graveyard mass in Killygordon.

Gardai have recently warned people to be vigilant as they attend masses.

The three man gang entered the man’s home on the main Lifford to Castlefin just minutes after he and his wife left their home.

CCTV at the man’s home showed the couple left their home at 10.31am and the gang entered the house at 10.44am.

The gang ignored all electrical items including a laptop computer and instead headed for gold jewelry which they could sell on easily.

The man, who owns a café in Lifford, revealed the jewelry belonged to his wife’s sister who died last year and left it to them.

The man also revealed how he thinks his small dog may also have been attacked by the gang as it was found terrified hiding under a bed.

Gardai are studying the CCTV and are trying to identity the gang.

The man feels the gang may be local and may have ben watching his movements.

“They were in my house just minutes after I left so I feel they knew our movements. I can’t say to much but the Gardai are studying the CCTV,” he said.

He appealed to members of a local charity cycle who may have been passing his house to contact him if they noticed anybody at his house.
