Donegal Daily, Donegal’s biggest news website, has recorded its biggest monthly readership figures since it was founded just three years ago.
The website, a source of daily news for Donegal people at home and abroad, recorded a staggering 3,310,593 page views from its 227,848 readers for the month of July.
The figures are supplied by Google and can be verified by the global search engine.
Editor of Donegal Daily, Stephen Maguire, said the figures are proof that Donegal Daily is now the ‘go-to’ website for Donegal news online.
“Three years ago Donegal Daily was a dream and we hoped to get a few hundred hits each day.
“But today we get an average of up to 50,000 visitors from Donegal and across the world.
“Those figures are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and our belief that no story is too small to go on Donegal Daily,” he said.
Stephen said the policy of Donegal Daily is that they try to include every story on the site no matter how trivial people may think of them.
“Some people call us the ‘lost dog’ website but we are proud of that because that lost dog is someone’s family pet.
“We believe everyone has a right to tell their story and if a story appears on Donegal Daily and helps someone then we are doing our job.
“We think that has been a key part of our success to date and we will continue to operate that policy,” he said.
