A young Donegal girl finally said thank you to her heroes this week – almost five years after they helped save her life.
Little Hannah Connolly was rushed to Crumlin Hospital in Dublin by air ambulance in 2009.
And this week the Air Corps had a special visit from Killea girl Hannah, 5, who wanted to see her heroes at Casement Aerodrome.
She first met with Capt Finbar McArdle, Capt Michale Noonan and Armn Dave Tiernan when they were tasked with bringing her on an neonatal air ambulance from Letterkenny to Dublin.
And thanks to the speedy transfer from her helicopter crew and the support from Air Corps ground staff, she got the treatment she required and has made a full recovery.
The Air Corps complete over 100 air ambulances every year and the crews rarely hear how our special passengers get on.
“Meeting Hanna today and seeing her full of life is a great reminder to our crews of the difference they can make and why we do our best to provide this service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round,” said a spokesman for the Air Corps.
Hannah’s daddy Eddie and mum Louise said their daughter had a great day and paid tribute to the men who helped save their little girl.
“Hannah is a very special little girl but they are very special men also and we just wanted to say thank you to them,” said Eddie.
