Entries are flooding in for the Riverine 10K, the cross border event which will be held in Lifford-Strabane on Sunday 10th August.
With the race launched a few short weeks ago and sponsored by Dolans Bureau de Change at the Travellers Rest, there has been a huge pre entry to date, with still over a week to go until the event. A 5K Walk has also been included, providing something for the whole family.
The first holding of this event last year proved to be an outstanding success, with athletes from right across the North West in attendance.
The fact that the annual Strabane 10K traditionally held in July each year is now being replaced with the Riverine 10K has added a new dimension to this years race with a bumper crowd now expected.
The cross border, cross community nature of the event was the catalyst for the hugely successful inaugural Strabane Lifford Half Marathon in May which brought nearly 600 athletes to the area.
From the elite runner through to the recreational jogger and walker, the event is open to all levels of athlete.
An added bonus this year is a €200 bonus to the first man under 31 minutes and first woman under 35 minutes.
Last years winners, Foyle Valley’s Keith Shields and Lifford AC’s Irish international Ann Marie McGlynn from Strabane have set the bar high for this years event and yet another quality event is expected. The flat course produced an abundance of fast times last year, with personal bests expected to be the order of the day.
Athletes pre-registering for the 10K before Sunday 3rd August will receive a free quality technical tee shirt. For pre-registration after that date, t-shirts will be subject to availability.
