Derry City have signed Killybegs defender Shaun Kelly from fellow Airtricity Premier Division side Limerick City.
Kelly is a right-sided defender who has played for Hearts, Dundalk and Galway.
After a period with the Scottish Premiership club, Kelly returned to Ireland to sign for Dundalk in January 2009.
On leaving Oriel Park at the end of 2010 he signed for Galway in February the following year.
However, financial turmoil led to Westerners placing their entire squad on the transfer list and in July 2011 he signed for Limerick FC and made his debut for the club against Monaghan United at Jackman Park on 22 July, going on to play 11 league games as Limerick finished third in the First Division.
He played 24 league games in Limerick’s First Division title winning season of 2012 and re-signed for Limerick’s first season back in the Premier Division in 2013.
He made 25 league appearances for the club and scored his first two goals for the club that year.
He re-signed for the 2014 season and was handed the captain’s armband after the retirement of former skipper Pat Purcell.
