One of the most sought after vouchers to be played for by the ladies is for Julies Beauty Salon. This year Mary McGonigle brought in a score of 38pts to win 1st prize. Claire Paasch who was runner up on Lady Captain’s Day was once again 2nd with 35pts beating Geraldine Gorman and Bernie Finn into 3rd and 4th places.

Edward Kane was the runaway winner of the weekend competition sponsored by La Bella Donna. His score of 43pts was five shots clear of 2nd placed Liam Mundy with Nigel McGurk and Matt Gallagher separated by a break of tie for third and fourth. Jason Conway was the gross winner.

Thursday Specials
Once again the weather was perfect for golf and the course was in pristine condition, the scoring was of a very high standard and the result was a triumph of youth over experience.
The winner, who returned a very impressive score of 36pts moving him into first place in the race for player of the year and setting a target which may prove difficult for the other contenders to catch was Conor McNulty, 2nd place went to Shane Browne with a very impressive score of 35pts which would have been good enough to win most weeks. Martin Travers was 3rd with 34pts on a break of tie from Brian Neilan in 4th also with 34pts.
Thomas Carr won the 1st9 with 21pts on a very close break of tie and Francis Brogan was the best past player with 33pts on a break of tie.
Mr Aiden Cassidy’s Chairman’s Day will be held on Thursday 31st July, there will be prizes for longest drive, nearest the pin, past players.
The dates for the remaining rounds of the Phoenix cup have been pushed out by one week due to delays in earlier rounds. Moving forward if a match is not completed by the date on the notice board it will be decided by a toss of coin, no exceptions. 3rd round Phoenix cup matches must now be completed by the 6th August.
Fourball MatchplayChampionship (Spring League)
Congratulations to Michael McGarvey and Peter Sweeney, winners of the Fourball Matchplay Competition sponsored by TG Tunnelling. They overcame Colm Campbell (Eircom) and Bill Harris in the final on Tuesday the 15th July. In the Plate section John Joe Travers and Raymond Nolan were winners with Hugh Dillon and Kieran Keeney runners up.
Mixed Scramble (15 holes) in aid of St Vincent De Paul Society
A Mixed Scramble in aid of St Vincent De Paul took place on Friday the 19th of July. The winners were Barry Kennedy, Roisin Kennedy & Paddy Carr with their score including a “Hole in One” at the 13th by Paddy Carr. Runners up were John Hanna, Audrey Johnston & Billy Johnston, and Doreen Browne Michael McGarvey & Marie McGarvey took third place. The organizer, Eugene McLaughlin expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the day.
3 Generation Competition
Paddy Carr continued the winning formula on Saturday coming first in the 3 Generation competition with son Martin and grandson Jason.
