We have had a busy week at the club with the weather been so good. A large number of golfers played in the Open Wednesday competition.
Then on Friday evening we had our 1st 14 hole scramble.
It was great to see such a great turnout and a good night was had by all in the clubhouse afterwards. Well done to John Chambers, Cairns Witherow and Sean Ferriter, Seamus Mc Cauley, Willie Wilkin, Ken bond, Shaun Duffy Jnr, Margaret Hearn and Paula Mc Callion who were prize winners in this scramble. There will be another scramble this Friday at 6.30pm and you have to register before 4.30pm.
The Ladies Committee organised a Rules information Night after the scramble on Friday Night. There was a large crowd in attendance. Tracey Spence (ILGU) gave the talk and everyone that attending learned a few more things about the game of golf which they didn’t know before the talk. Well done to Cheryl and her committee for organising the talk.
Remember our chef, Cathal is in the Clubhouse from Wednesday to Sunday each week for July and August. Make sure to bring your friends down and spread the word. The food is second to none and is fantastic value.
Our club Academy is starting and it is not too late to enter your children’s names to get great coaching from our resident P.G.A. Coach, Seamus Mc Monagle. Please ring the clubhouse for further details.
Well done to Conor Cheevers, who recently took part in the Ulster under 9 competitions and was victorious. Conor as everyone knows puts a lot of practise into his game and also receives tuition from Seamus. Most of the golfers at the club are jealous of his golf swing and I have no doubt we will be reading about Conor’s exploits on the golf course for years to come. Well done.
The Donegal Boys Competitions is on this Friday 18th of July. This was a great tournament last year kindly organised by Seamus mc Monagle. It is not too late to enter. Please ring the clubhouse or enter your name on line if you wish to enter.
Open Week starts on the 23rd of July until the 3rd of August which is just around the corner. There is great prizes on offer through the duration of the open week. Many thanks to the members who attended a very informative Rules Night last Friday, 11th July, lead by Tracy Spence of Letterkenny Golf Club and the ILGU. Tracy gave a very user friendly overview of the etiquette expected from golfers, explained the reasoning behind some of the rules and clarified uncertainties. After a very useful and informative true/false quiz, Tracy answered questions and queries from members. We thank her for taking the time to share her knowledge and expertise with us in such a relaxed and entertaining way.
The timesheet for the Centenary Cup to be held next Saturday, 19th July and sponsored by Barbara Eakin is now available in the shop. Ladies are asked to note that this is a stroke competition.
