The two Pilot Whales rescued after they beached on a Falcarragh strand have ben found washed up again.

The whales, which first beached at Ballyness on Monday, were refloated again in the early hours of yesterday morning by local man Gareth Doherty.

The sailing company owner said he could just not stand by and watch as the whales died an agonising death on the beach.

However the two whales have been found beached again at Inishbofin and Cloughaneely earlier today.

The National Parks and Wildlife Services had asked the public not to visit the beach and to allow the animals to die by themselves.

Two other beached whales remain alive at Ballyness but the NPWS hope they too will pass away.
