The body of a man in his 30s has been found near cliffs at Downings.
The remains are believed to be that of the missing yachtsman Michael Green whose boat has been anchored in Sheephaven Bay for the past two weeks.
Mulroy Coastguard discovered the body at approximately 5.40pm yesterday evening.
The area was sealed of and the body was then handed over to Gardai.
The Gardai subsequently removed the body to Letterkenny General Hospital where a post mortem is expected to be carried out.
A spokesman for the Malin Head Coastguard confirmed the body has been positively identified as that of the missing man.
Mr Green was from just outside Rathmullan but had spent some years living and working in England.
An alert was sparked last week when the man’s yacht, Wood Magic, was boarded by Gardai after it had been anchored in Sheephaven Bay off Ards Friary for several days.
It is not yet known how the man died.
