*G4M&O Blitz in Cookstown*
The G4M+O team took part in a very successful G4M+O blitz as part of the Mid Ulster Arena’s Annual fun day in Cookstown in which they played 5 games (won 4, drew 1).
It was a very enjoyable day for all and good preparation to go to Randalstown this week in which they take part in an “Ulster Blitz”. We would like to extend our congratulations to Megan Hunter also on her engagement last weekend.

CLG BnaG 2-12 Aodh Ruadh 2-11
The Seniors got a long awaited victory on Saturday night in a thrilling and dramatic encounter in Moyle Park. It looked like more heartache for the lads as a very very good performance looked destined to end in defeat as they were 4 points down as the game went into injury time. The blues started very brightly and played the better football in the first half. They were extremely hungry and tenacious in the tackle and played some nice flowing football but didn’t manage to reflect their dominance on the scoreboard. Aodh Ruadh seemed to be getting their scores a little too handily while na Galloglaigh had to fight hard for theirs and after 15 minutes it was all level at 0-2 apiece. Playing against a decent breeze na Galloglaigh would have been quite happy to go in level at half time but late in injury time a high ball into the BnaG box wasn’t dealt with and resulted in an Aodh Ruadh goal. Luckily there was just enough time for Kane Barrett to point a free before the ref blew the half time whistle with the score 0-5 to 1-4. Again in the second half na Galloglaigh were the better team but didn’t make the umpires at the Aodh Ruadh end work too hard in the heat in the third quarter, while Aodh Ruadh again were always dangerous on the counter and after 45 minutes the score 0-8 to 1-9. Aodh Ruadh had a man sent off after 49 minutes as his clothes line tackle on Joey Cullen seen him receive a second yellow. The heads never dropped in fairness and the lads kept battling and with a few minutes left they were 1 behind, a contentious Aodh Ruadh ‘point’ that was well wide was the only difference between the sides. Just when it looked like they had a chance to possibly get a draw disaster struck. Once again a high ball wasn’t dealt and ended up in the back of the na Galloglaigh net to leave 4 between the sides as the game entered injury time. Then the drama started. Cathal Mc Gettigan found himself almost in the corner at the Aodh Ruadh end and heard the calls to land a high ball into the box, which ended up actually going over the bar from the tightest of angles. A minute later Joey Cullen, who had a stormer in midfield alongside Jonny Logue, was fouled and Christopher Barrett pumped the ball into the box for what would surely be the last piece of action. Substitute Christy Mac Cafferty made a complete nuisance of himself in the 6 yard box but for a moment it seemed like it wasn’t going be enough as the Aodh Ruadh defender won the ball. But then he dropped it! A goal mouth scramble ensued before Christy McCafferty managed to fire home from all of a foot out, much to delight of the home crowd, but to the anger of the Ballyshannon crowd who felt there had been a foul. Another substitute, Anthony Fisher, won the resultant kick out and his cross field ball found Chippie Barrett again whose half-blocked effort just about went over the bar to give na Galloglaigh the lead again for the first time since the 20th minute. Eventually the referee blew the final whistle after 4 minutes of injury time, much to the relief of na Galloglaigh. In fairness, it would have been harsh for the lads to lose this game as for the vast majority of it they were the better teamNext up is Buncrana at home next Sunday. Team: Sean Gallagher, Gavin Grier, Gearoid Horkan, Conor McNulty, Dean Burgess, Gary Merritt, TJ Evesson, Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen, Manus Boyce, Pauric Curley, Christopher Barrett (0-2), Kane Barrett (0-3), Cathal McGettigan (1-7), Paddy Peoples. Subs: Anthony Fisher for Boyce (50m), Christy McCafferty for Curley (60m), Cormac Friel, Paul Sweeney, Brandon Toye, Kieran Sheridan, Caolan Mc Gettigan
*Minors*
St Eunans B 5-7 CLG BnaG 1-3
The Minors had a very disappointing defeat at the hands of St Eunans B Team on Tuesday night. Despite being the better team for the first half they went behind at half time 2-0 to 1-2. The concession of three more soft goals in the second half seen the boys heads drop and they started doing things they wouldn’t normally do to try get themselves back into the game, none of which work. A combination of the tight heat and huge pitch meant they struggled to move the ball as they normally would and only scored one point in the second half. Next up they play Red Hughs. Scorers: Owen Deely (1-1), Kane Barrett (0-2)
*U14 Girls*
Our U14 girls beat Naomh Mhuire in County Semifinal in Termon on Monday night by a scoreline 8.10 to 2.3. They totally dominated the game and went at Naomh Mhuire from the start. It was a real team performance with Excellent link play all over the pitch. Roisin Doherty, Sinead McCahill, Kellyann Buchanan, Emma McGettigan were best for na Galloglaigh.
*U12s*
The U12s traveled to St Michaels on Monday evening and were defeated in both the A and B matches. The A Team got off to a terrible start and only recovered late in the second half when the game was pretty much over, but had good displays from Jay Curran and Mick Geever. The B Team had a much closer game but got beat by 3 points. Best for the B Team was Liam Donnelly, Aidan Ferry and Aisling McCormack. Next match is at home to Gweedore on Monday.
