Lifford bodybulider Jimmy Connolly has just missed out on the 6 place spot in the 2014 NABBA Worlds Bodybuilding Championships in the Waterfront Hall Belfast.
Jimmy, 48, has been training in the sport for the past ten years.
Jimmy revealed “I have been training 10 years on and off but the past three years I have been training hard an competing in shows. I have been training in Pro Gym in Derry with Dave Fox for ten years right up until the NABBA Northern Ireland 2014.”
Jimmy has also been training in the Railway Gym in Lifford for the worlds championships.
The Donegal man thanked his daughter Laura and son James who he says have been there for him “through thick and thin.”
“I want to thank my brother Andy who also helped me all the way and also my friend Conor Gamble and Barney Crossan for all his knowledge an also last but not least many thanks to the Railway Gym for all their support.”
Jimmy reveals he trains seven days a week coming up to a show which includes a high protein diet for 12 weeks in advance.
The grandfather of one has competed in the Nabba Northern Ireland Bodybuilding Championships three times now and has placed two seconds and a fourth place.
This time around he just missed out on making the final six in the competition.
But Jimmy says his love of the sport will keep him going.
“I love the sport very much so I will take a little time off and go back training in the future,” said dedicated Jimmy.
