Donegal Daily can reveal that this time a man suspected of using one of two brothels in the town was also arrested. He was naked when he was found by Gardaí.
The four others were suspected prostitutes.
All had been advertising their services on the Escort Ireland website.
Two Romanian women were held after a raid on an address at Larkin’s Lane in Letterkenny last night.
In a second Garda operation a woman from Ecuador, a woman from the Dominican Republic and a man from County Donegal were all detained at a house in St Eunan’s Court. The man was in a state of undress.
A quantity of cash was also seized.
Inspector Goretti Sheridan told us that representatives of a national charity which helps women exploited by criminal gangs were assisting Gardaí.
Ruhama works with women affected by prostitution and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation.
All those detained have been given Garda bail with several due to appear in court next month.
“Investigations are continuing into all of these matters,” said Inspector Sheridan.
Yesterday four Romanian women were ordered to leave Ireland on a flight from Dublin tomorrow morning.
A Romanian man charged with brothel keeping was remanded in custody while his wife was remanded on bail.
Several other investigations took place yesterday – with suspects in a car near Letterkenny court house quizzed for a time by Gardaí.
