Any hope Donegal were harboring of Mark McHugh lining out in this year’s All Ireland championship have disappeared as he boards a flight for America this morning.
The Kilcar man will spend the summer in New York playing his football there.
The 2012 All-Star stunned manager Jim McGuinness and his team-mates when he pulled out of the Donegal squad after th league campaign.
Donegal will now have to plan without McHugh as they face Antrim in the Ulster semi-final this Sunday in Clones.
Donegal captain Michael McHugh had said recently that the door was always open for a return.
But it appears, for this season at least, that McHugh will not be part of the campaign.
