The Rosapenna Irish Mixed Foursomes team played North-West G.C in Letterkenny last Friday winning the first three matches to advance to the last 16 in Ulster.
The top pairing of Dypnma Kelly & Enda Kennedy won their match 5&4 with the third pairing of Suzanne Gallagher & Michael Bradley also winning by the same margin in the middle game.
The second pairing of Orla Lenny & Martin McDermott were level after 14 holes and won both the 15th & 16th before loosing the long Par 4 17th to stand on the final tee with a 1 hole lead where they would halve the Par 5 18th and end the tie in Rosapenna’s favour.
The fourth pairing of Terri McBride & Frank Casey Jnr were all square on the 18th fairway while the last match starring Ann Currie & Con Boyce won 3&1.
The last 16 open draw was made this week and Rosapenna now play Castlerock on or before Monday June 30th in Strabane Golf Club.
Rosapenna’s Junior League team played Strabane G.C away on Thursday last and had a fantastic victory to win the first round tie.
With a 5-2 lead from the home leg Rosapenna won two matches away with Barry Connor winning the top match and Peadar Boyce winning in the fourth match on the 19th.
The two nominated players then played sudden death from the first hole and this was a rematch of the first pairing with Barry Connor taking on Peter Doherty of Strabane.
The first and second holes where halved in four’s before they made their way up the long Par 4 third hole, with both players short of the putting surface in two Peter pitched to 9 feet and Barry knocked it into 5 feet.
Peter’s putt just lipped out and Barry holed his putt for Par in the closing darkness to end the tie.
Well done to team captain Seamus Connor and all the players.
Rosapenna now play Buncrana in the second round with the home leg first, both legs must be played on or before Monday June 30th.
The Rosapenna Minor League team hosted Ballybofey/S at home on Sunday last.
Trailing 4-1 from the away leg the home team knew what they had to do and with the first pairing of Mark Bradley & Brendan McGee.
Three down with three to play the task looked even more difficult but winning the Par 5 16th was vital and then a Par at the long Par 3 17th.
Was enough to make it up the last where Mark Bradley produced a brilliant birdie four to halve the match from where Rosapenna would claim the next four games to reach the necessary 4.5 matches.
This was a great effort from all the players against a very strong Ballybofey/S side.
Well done to the team captain Garvin Toye and his panel of players.
Rosapenna now play either Gweedore or Donegal in the county quater final on or before Monday the 7th of July.
