Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Education Charlie McConalogue has sent his best wishes to the 4,687 Junior and Leaving Cert students across Co. Donegal, as the State exams get underway.
Charlie McConalogue has wished the 4,867 exam students in Donegal good luck ahead of the state exams which get underway today.
This year 2,134 Donegal students are sitting the Leaving Certificate and 148 are doing the Leaving Cert Applied. A further 2,405 students are sitting Junior Certificate exams.
That’s up from an overall 4,442 students sitting State exams in Donegal last summer.
Deputy McConalogue told Donegal Daily, “My thoughts and best wishes are with the students across Donegal and their families as the exams get underway.
“It’s a particularly important time for the 2,134 Leaving Cert students in Donegal who will soon make the transition from school to working life or further education.
“The hard work and preparation is done – they just need to put their best foot forward now, showcase their skills and demonstrate all they have learnt throughout their school careers.
“It’s also an important time for Junior Cert students who are sitting their first State exams.
“Their experiences over the next two weeks will help them to prepare for the Leaving Cert in the coming years.
“Going through State exams can be stressful for both the students and their parents.
“It’s important to keep that stress to a minimum by staying healthy, eating well and getting enough sleep.
“When each exam is done, it’s best to forget about it, avoid lengthy post-mortems and just focus on the next one.
“A calm atmosphere at home and a quiet place to study can also help with keeping the nerves at bay.
