Healthwise Pharmacies in Donegal are celebrating after scoring a hat-trick at the prestigious 2014 Irish Pharmacy Awards.
The pharmacy group, which has nine stores in the county, walked off with the titles of Pinewood Community Pharmacist of the Year, PharmaConex Community Pharmacy Technician of the Year and the Nurofen Baby Health Pharmacy of the Year.
Director of Healthwise Pharmacies James Cassidy told Donegal Daily, “To win three awards is testament to our community ethos and our commitment to providing a quality service to our customers.
“I am very proud of the work of our entire team across Donegal.
“Everybody has to specialise to stand out in pharmacy and this is something we try to do across all our stores.
“As a group Healthwise decided to specialise in the mother and baby category.
“This award for the recognises that they are now leaders in this field.
“Success is in numbers and their customers recognise the benefits of having an expert mother and baby pharmacy as they visit it from far and wide.
Roisin Mulhern who was named Community Pharmacist of the Year is Manager at the Ballyraine branch of Healthwise in Ballyraine,Letterkenny. She was described by judges as, “a professional, committed and conscientious pharmacist who has achieved outstanding results in the four years she has been there.”
A truly dedicated and extremely skilled professional, Roisin carries all the clinical, professional and interpersonal skills to provide the very best in pharmacy related services.
Roisin told Donegal Daily, “This is a tremendous award and a tribute to all the work I have done with my team on a number of projects throughout the year.
“I have extended the role of the community pharmacist outside of the remit and I have connected with all health care professionals from doctors to the nurses,which has fed back down directly to patients and the community.
“To be awarded and recognised by fellow colleagues and peers makes this award special and I think it will cement the work I have done for years to come.
Kirstie Kilpatrick who was named Pharmacy Technician of the Year also works at the Ballyraine branch of Healthwise Pharmacy.
She has been described as “the person staff turn to when they need something done.
She is valued by all of her patients and enjoys a fantastic working relationship with her team and also with other healthcare professionals she works with.
Kirstie said,, “It is an unbelievable honour to be the first ever Pharmacy Technician of the Year.
“I can’t recommend entering an award like this enough.
“It has given me a time to shine and allowed me to showcase the hard work that I have done.
“This award is so special because it is an accolade to technicians generally and our team in Healthwise in particular.
“The support and congratulations from customers have made the award even more special and I am very grateful to IPN and all involved in the process.
The award ceremony took place last week in Dublin’s Hilton DoubleTree Hotel and was hosted by RTE’s Miriam Callaghan.
The awards were attended by over 500 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry throughout Ireland.
