By Ira Goldman in New York: A 4-13 to 2-8 win over Rockland Wednesday evening has extra satisfaction for Donegal NY’s Junior team as it was Rockland who beat them last month in the League Final.
The Donegal lads were up 1-1 before Rockland got over the black spot and never were headed from then. Up 2-5 to 1-4 at the interval, Donegal opened the second half with the second of Greg King’s two goals of the day.
A first half shot to the net by Brian Giveney and another by Paul Murrin in the second half left Rockland too much of a hill to climb.
The dependable Daniel Shovlin scored 3 points and veterans Anton Diver and Kevin Lilly contributed 2 each.
In all, a solid, well-played game with no controversy and good football by both teams added to the reputation of Junior B as perhaps the most entertaining division of the NY GAA.
The table-topping Juniors take on Offaly on 18 June while Donegal’s Senior squad face Cavan on Sunday and Leitrim on 29 June to finish the month.
