DONEGAL’S Philip Deignan claimed a place on the podium of the 18th stage of the Giro d’Italia.
The Letterkenny cyclist, part of Team Sky, powered his way to third place on the 171km stage from Belluno to Rifugio Panarotto.
He came in behind Colombian duo of Julian Arredondo and Fabio Duarte, 37 seconds behind the stage winner.
Nairo Quintana holds on to his one minute and 41 second lead over Rigoberto Uran in the battle for pink jersey.
Deignan moved up five places on GC to 37th, while Nicholas Roche moved up one spot to 32nd after finishing 35th on the stage.
