THERE is widespread heartache and disbelief at the death of one young Donegal man and the illness of his friend after a house party in St. Johnston earlier this morning.
Oisin Crawford was just 22. Tearful relatives and friends are trying to come to terms with his tragic passing.
At the same time they are saying prayers for friend Simon Lynch, another very popular young man in east Donegal who is critically ill at Letterkenny General Hospital.
Both young men are believed to have taken pills from a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets which have been at the centre of a national warning from Gardai.
The HSE said it believed the drugs were known as Double Cross or Double Black.
Health authorities have issued an urgent warning to other young people NOT to take the drugs. Three other people – including an 18-year-old girl – were also treated in hospital.
Ambulances sped to Main Street in St Johnston just after 4.30am, with Gardai arriving later.
The close-knit and quiet village of St.Johnston has been rocked by today’s devastating news.
Tributes from heartbroken friends and relatives, have been pouring in on Oisin’s Facebook account.

Forensic experts from the Gardai, carried out a search of the house earlier this morning, and investigations are on-going.
It is hoped that two of those taken to hospital, may be released later this evening, while the other is expected to be released tomorrow.
However, one man is still in a critical condition, and is battling to save his life.
One friend told Simon on his Facebook page: “Pull through buddy. We need you to pull through.”
