A man in his 80s was killed when he was trampled by a cow earlier today.
The man was attending his cows in the townland of Carrickbrack, Convoy when one of the animals charged at him around 9am.
Locals called the emergency services and two ambulances attended the scene.
However, a third ambulance had to be called when one of the paramedics attending the scene also suffered a serious leg injury as he crossed the field.
He had to be treated at the scene.
The man was trampled by the cow was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital but was pronounced dead a couple of hours later.
His name has not been released until all relatives have been informed.
A full investigation into the incident has been launched.
