Independent candidate in the Letterkenny & Milford electoral area, Peter Cutliffe, has claimed that voters in Letterkenny need to use their vote on May 23 rd after survey in today’s Tirconaill Tribune indicated that the town could greatly lose out in representation after next Friday’s County Council Elections.
Cutliffe stated that in his opinion, there are warning signs in the survey that Letterkenny could be under-represented after next Friday’ election.
Cutliffe told Donegal Daily. “The survey was taken last week from about 500 people seems to discount about 4 prominent Letterkenny candidates including myself.
“I know that approx one-third of this small survey are undecided voters and and it is only a small snap-shot in time, but I believe this is the ‘wake-up’ call people need to come and use their vote next Friday.
“I myself , as an Independent am getting a very positive response on the door-step and believe they people need to use their vote and proceed to vote 1,2,3, 4, etc in order of their choice so as to get their preferred representatives on the next Council.
According to Cutliffe, there is a need for a balanced representation over the whole Letterkenny & Milford electoral area, and this poll indicates to him, that this will not be the case if people to not mobilise and use their vote.
Cutliffe concluded, “The abolition of Letterkenny Town Council was a bad day for Letterkenny and if people do not vote for adequate representation next Friday, then I fear the worst for our town.
