BRITISH detective have used a Portugese air force helicopter in a fresh search for Madeleine McCann.
Digging at six sites is due to begin in the Praia da Luz area where the toddler disappeared in May 2007.
Military photographers, who were accompanied by the British policemen, took pictures of the local beach and other areas of the resort where detectives plan to dig for clues.
However there are still tensions between the British and Portugese authorities after reports that London detectives were refused permission to raid the homes of suspects.
They specifically want to talk to three ex-employees of the hotel where Madeleine disappeared.
The case is being followed closely here in Donegal where Maddie’s dad Gerry has many cousins and other relatives.
He had brought the girl here in April 2007 for an Easter break before the trip to Portugal.
The British detectives include forensic experts with specialist equipment.
