TEMPERATURES in inland Co Donegal could soar to a sunny 18C today – as our glorious Easter weather continues.
Forecasters say the bright sunny weather will be best today and tomorrow.
And whilst the so-called ‘Sunny South East’ of Ireland is battered by rain on Sunday, the North West will continue with bright, dry and warm weather.
No wonder BBQ sales have gone through the roof today.
“Disposable BBQs are flying off the shelves,” said Mairtin Kelly at Kelly’s Centra at Mountain Top in Letterkenny.
“We put them out just in case – and the weather is perfect for it.”
Hundreds of runners in the Balllyliffin Coastal Challenge are also out this afternoon taking on the 10-mile challenge.
Walkers and runners have been warned to make sure they drink lots of water.
And plaster on some sun cream!
The weather has provided an extra boost to the tourism industry with Easter roads packed with visitors, especially from the North.
“We’re booked out,” said Carolynne Harrison from the Mount Errigal Hotel.
“Families are here in large numbers and we just have a couple of spare rooms later in the week. Everyone wants to go to Glenveagh and the beaches around Rathmullan and are basing themselves here.
“It’s glorious when we have weather like this.”
A word of warning – it will get colder after dark – so keep a jumper handy if you are out and about this evening.
