The Downings club has been given grant aid totalling €43,020.
“Deputy Joe McHugh and myself have been working closely with Minister Dinny McGinley over the past while and I am delighted the funding has now been secured Downings GAA Club,” said Cllr Noel McBride.
The money will give the clubs preparations for the National Gaelteacht Finals a huge boost, which will take place in Downings in June 2018.
Added McBride: “The club has big development plans in place and Deputy McHugh and I are confident that further funding can be secured. The National Gaelteacht Finals will be a massive visitor attraction to the parish of Mevagh and indeed beyond. All credit has to go to the Downings GAA Club for securing the finals.”
