Daniel O’Donnell has revealed he has attended his first race meeting – since his donkey derby days in Donegal!
Daniel and wife Majella were guests at the recent Grand National last weekend.
“Majella and I were invited as guests of our good friend Judy Halewood, whose company Halewood International sponsored “The Crabbies Grand National at Aintree”.
“It was my first time at the races and I have to say we had a wonderful day. Mind you I did go to the “Donkey Derby” at Keadue strand many years ago,” he laughed.
Daniel is currently in the UK but says his recent touring experience in Sri Lanka just blew him away.
“After over 30 years in the music business it’s fantastic to be able to experience something new and this experience came in the way of a trip to Sri Lanka to perform our first show.
“I never thought when I started all those years ago that I would travel so much and going to Sri Lanka was certainly never on my mind.
“We had a wonderful time there and I was amazed at the enthusiasm of the audience, they knew every word of every song and sang louder than I did. I really hope we get to visit you all again sometime.”
Daniel revealed that Majella is doing well and they are planning some much-needed time in their holiday home in Tenerife.
“I’m glad to say Majella is doing very well two months after her surgery and after the shows finish next week we will spend some time in Tenerife. We are really looking forward to the break,” he said.
