Buncrana made it two wins in a row as they overcame stiff Naomh Columba opposition in a blustery and cold Scarvey. Buncrana were slow to start, shooting three wides as Naomh Columba went into a 0-0 to 1-01after 15 minutes. There was an anxious time for the Buncrana team when Simon McGrory hurt himself in a missed tackle and was hospitalised as a precaution but will make a full and speedy recovery. But once the game resumed after 20 minutes Buncrana took control and despite some wides notched up 7 points and went in at half time 1-7 to 2-2, the goal scored by Paddy McMyler. Buncrana had the perfect start to the second half with a superb Kevin O’Loughlin goal. Although Naomh Columba chased them all the way, the game ended with a deserved Buncrana win 2-9 to 2-6. Team List:Caolan McGonagle, Stephen Doherty, Adrian McColgan, Calvin Jones, Simon McGrory, Adrian Doherty, Garvan Friel, Peter McLaughlin, Bruce Waldron, Kevin O’Loughlin, Ronan Doherty, John Campbell, Paddy McMyler, Oisin Doherty Subs: Jack O’Loughlin for Simon McGrory, Michael Gallagher for Adrian Doherty, Joseph McGrory for Ronan Doherty, and Adrian Doherty back on for Adrian McColgan
Reserves
An understrength Buncrana team came up against much stronger and older Naomh Columba side at the Scarvey and despite their best efforts trailed the visitors 0-3 to 1-10 at half time. The home side were given some hope at the start of the second half with a brilliant individual goal for Gavin McElhinney but they couldn’t build on it and the visitors ran out comfortable winners in the end. Buncrana Team: Kevin Doherty, Daniel Wilson, Sean O’Neill, Philip Harkin, Paddy Duffy, David Galbraith, James Gill, Aedan Stokes, Gavin McElhinney, Kevin McClean, Shane McClean, Joseph McGrory, Ciaran Hegarty, Mark O’Connell, Shane McLaughlin. Subs: Ryan McLaughlin for Paddy Duffy and Conor Porter for James Gill.
Congratulations to Darrach O’Connor who is becoming an increasingly important part of the Donegal squad who qualified for the National Football League Division 2 Final which takes place in Croke Park on Sunday 27 April.
Unfortunately, there was no joy for Clubmen Darrach O’Connor and Peter McLaughlin who played in the Ulster U21 Final in Armagh on Wednesday night. Cavan continued their recent great run to clinch the title for the fourth season in a row.

Minor Hurling
The minor Hurlers had a comfortable home win against St Eunans Letterkenny on Thursday night. Although slow to start they ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 8-11 to 0-4. Up against a more physical St Eunans, the younger Scarvey boys showed glimpses of form but still need to improve. Most pleasing to the management was the fact that they held the Letterkenny boys scoreless in the second half and all but one of them are still under-age next year. The future looks bright.
Under Age Reports
Best of luck to our U12 Footballers, their Manager William Friel and Coaches who are heading to Croke Park to represent Donegal on Monday for the first ever national celebration of GAA Go Games.
The national blitz in Croke Park will mark the launch this week, involving over 1,000 children from over 50 clubs/schools. This will be the first time ever that teams from each of the 32 counties will play Go Games in Croke Park on the one day.
U14 hurling results
Buncrana played their 2nd league match of the year on Thursday in Ballybofey against an improved and determined McCools team. The Buncrana boys played well and recorded a fine win 1-4 to 4-9. All the boys played well but special mention for the Kelly brothers and Pauric Doherty.
Congratulations to the Buncrana U14’s for their deserved success in Páirc Uí Dhónaill when they were crowned Donegal Féile champions. This was the club’s fourth Féile as champions in a row and credit is due to Cathal Wilson, the team’s manager, in beating St. Eunan’s in the decider. Well done, too, to the young hurlers of MacCumhaills in overcoming the fast emerging Dungloe in the plate decider where the result was in the balance till the final seconds. Credit, too, must go to the boys from Burt for making so much of the play exciting and games go ‘to the wire’.
The Harry Cassidy Memorial Shield U12 Football Blitz will be played next Saturday 19th April.
Buncrana will line out against St Eunans, Ardara and Termon…..

SafeTALK Training
The Club hosted a very successful safeTalk course last week in the Scarvey. SafeTALK is a suicide alertness training programme which the new County Health & Well-Being Committe is rolling out throughout the County and CLG Bun Cranncha was proud and honoured to be the first club to hold it. Bill Vaughan delivered the course and everyone who attended learned a lot from it. Unfortunately, suicide is a growing problem in today’s society but the Club and our members want to play a role in tackling this issue. Thanks to all who attended and hopefully this will inspire others to undertake this important training. We know our community best and it’s up to all of us to look out for each other.
