Cancer survivor Majella O’Donnell has said she does not feels she deserves all the praise she gets in confronting her illness.
Majella had her hair shaved live on the Late Late Show last September after discovering she had breast cancer and was to undergo treatment.
She raised a staggering €600,000 for the Irish Cancer Society and has since undergone a double mastectomy operation.
But Majella insisted “I feel a little bit like I don’t deserve all the accolades I’m getting because for me, it was a simple thing to do.
“When people say ‘You’re brave’, or “you’re this or that”, I squirm a bit and think: “I’m not really, that’s just me.”
“If I’m bald and look ugly, I don’t really care what anybody thinks.”
Majella, wife of singer Daniel O’Donnell, was recently pictured taking part in the selfie craze which encouraged women to donate cash as they went without make-up.
But Majella revealed she had one up on some women as she posed for her own selfie.
“I have to admit that I’m not a big make-up person. Most of the time I don’t wear make-up. I usually wear it when I’m going out.
“I’m not one of those people who has to put it on first thing in the morning, I actually can’t be bothered with it,” she said.
