A warning has been issued after what is suspected to be the first gorse fire of the season broke out last night.
The fire was spotted in Gaoth Dobhair but was brought quickly under control.
No serious damage was caused and nobody was hurt but an area of land was scorched.
Farmers and walkers have been urged to remain vigilant to the fires and to make the fire service known as soon as possible if a fire breaks out
The public has been asked not to burn rubbish in the open for fear of sparks igniting fires in the open.
There are also fears for wildlife with birds beginning to make their nests in shrubs and hedgerows.
The previous summers has seen a spate of gorse fires across the county, especially in West Donegal.
