BALLYBOFEY UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
WEEKLY NOTES
Pride of place this week goes to our Youth team. On Saturday last they travelled to Keadue to contest the League Cup semi-final against the local club, Keadue Rovers. After falling behind they levelled the match and then took the lead before Keadue forced the tie into extra time. When the added minutes failed to produce a winner it went to penalties and Ballybofey United won by 8 penalties to 7. This is a great achievement for a dedicated group of players who have competed well all season under to management of Joe Mc Gee and Michael Grant. Everyone at the club wishes them well in the final, the details of which are not available yet.
The seniors were defeated by Raphoe Town on Sunday in the Donegal Junior League and the season is now almost over with only one game remaining for Derek Roulston’s men. Elsewhere the Under-14 completed their league programme on Saturday morning last and we are now awaiting the start of the Under-10 season with training continuing on Tuesday nights at the Finn Valley AC Complex.
The club are holding a 25-Card Drive on Friday 11th April in the Sean Mac Cumhaills GAA Centre. Tickets are available from committee members or players can pay on the night. This is part of the club’s ongoing fundraising campaign as we work towards the development of our new facilities at Glencovitt. A Guest Tea and 5K Road Race are also at the planning stages and details will be released in due course.
An important date for your diary is Sunday June 1st. In association with the Villa Rose Hotel the club are starting a series of ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s discos on the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekends. DJ for the first disco will be Highland Radio’s Paul Mc Devitt. Tickets are on sale costing €10 and are available from club members.
