Community Election candidate, Peter Cutliffe has expressed his sorrow at the manner in which he claims long-serving Fianna Fáil Councillor, Victor Fisher has been treated by his party.
Mr Cutliffe says that as a fellow businessman in Letterkenny, he has known Cllr Fisher for over 40 years.
“In that time he has been a loyal servant to both Letterkenny and the Fianna Fáil party. In his own words, Cllr Fisher “wasn’t even considered ” by his own party in the selection process for the upcoming Council elections.
“I have had several dealings with Cllr Fisher over the years and above all else, Victor is a gentleman and deserves better,” said Mr. Cutliffe.
And he added “I believe that townspeople will be further disillusioned with politics and at the manner in which Cllr Fisher was treated. In my opinion, he is justified at being very annoyed.
“In my opinion, this sequence of events only compounds my belief that the party-system does not truly reflect the feelings of the ordinary voter on the ground.”
In conclusion, Mr Cutliffe wished Cllr Fisher the best of luck in whichever directions he chooses to proceed.
