Two best friends who were killed in separate road smashes in Donegal within a year of eachother are to be remembered in the skies above Ireland.
Shane Patton and Shane Brolly were tragically killed following separate car accidents.
Now eleven of their closest friends have come together to do a group skydive in a bid to raise funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
The pals want to leave a legacy behind for their friends and want to raise as much money as possible for the hospital.
Shane Patton was just 19 when his car was hit by another vehicle in Drumkeen on July 12th, 2012.
His best friend Shane Brolly, 18, was killed almost a year later on June 24th, 2013 when his car was in collision with another car outside Ballybofey.
Both had been inseparable and friends and family were heartbroken at the loss of the two young men.
Among those to take part in the parachute jump on March 29th next include Shane Patton’s mum Julie.
Shane Brolly’s sister Emma, who broke her arm and suffered other injuries in the same crash that killed her brother, will also take part in the skydive.
Pal Vicky Galvin said the friends are really looking forward to the dive – although some of them are very nervous.
“The two lads were very popular and this is our way of trying to remember them.
“They are never out of our thoughts and it will be an emotional day for us all.
“We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible. The two Shanes would have been delighted with are doing something like this and will probably be having a good laugh at us,” said Vicky.
Those taking part in the skydive are Shane Patton’s mum Julie, Shane Brolly’s sister Emma, as well as pals Vicky Galvin, Emma McElchar, Fiona Galvin, Aaron Carlin, Mark Carlin, Shane McGirr, Christy Gallen, Chloe Kelly and Martin McKelvey.
